November 2004
I'm back.

I arrived at LAX on October 24.  I've been catching up on the Anime/manga I've missed and playing World of Warcraft open beta.

I was misinformed about my trip to Hong Kong.  I had a one night stay in Taiwan before heading over to Thailand for a five day tour.  After that, I flew to Hong Kong and met my relatives there.  However, I only stayed there for a few days before heading across the Hong Kong border to Shen Zhen, China.  I stayed in Shen Zhen for most of the time.  Shen Zhen was pretty boring for me.  I would have rather stayed in Hong Kong even though the accommodations in Shen Zhen were much nicer.

Enough about my little trip.  On to my Anime/manga opinions:

The Naruto manga suprised me a bit because Kishimoto actually had Sasuke leave.  After reading the translation of the latest chapter, I'm eager to see this 3-year time jump come to pass.

One Piece manga is going nicely.  I hope to see Luffy straighten out this business with Robin and make things right.  The surprise at the end of chapter 345 was fucking great.

Full Metal Alchemist's ending was pretty "bleh." Still, it was a great series.

Gundam Seed Destiny's main Gundam is quite interesting.  Seeing Cagalli and Athrun is good, but I want to see Lacus.

Aishiteruze Baby and DearS had nice endings.  I definitely like DearS much more than I did Chobits.

October is the start of the new Anime season, and not very many have caught my attention.  School Rumble, Final Approach, Bleach, and Grenaider are the ones I like so far.  Mai Hime, Beet the Vandel Buster, and some others didn't catch my attention.

I watched the first episode of Full Metal Alchemist on Adult Swim.  As usual, Funimation turned out a very good dub.

And speaking of dubs, today, an Anime convention in New York starts that has claimed to be screening Naruto for the first time.  By Sunday, the company that has the license should be announced.  As long as 4Kids doesn't get it, I'll be happy.  Naruto fanboys will complain no matter who licenses it.  I probably won't be on any Anime boards, IRC channels, or sites for a week or so after the company is announced.  After seeing what the FMA community thought about Funimation licensing FMA, I've had enough of these "sub elitest." -_-
